Malvanegra Negroamaro
Protected Geographical Indication (IGP)
Red wine obtained from Negroamaro grapes grown in Puglia on medium-textured clay and limestone soils. The vineyards are between 15 and 30 years old and trained with Guyot pruning (4,000-4,500 vines/ha). Vinification involves destemming and cold maceration at 10-12 °C for 18-36 hours, fermentation at a controlled temperature, racking at the end of fermentation and gentle pressing of the pomace. After malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, the wine matures for 5 months, followed by an additional 6 months in French oak tonneaux and then 3 months in bottle. It has an intense red colour with purple reflections. On the nose it is intense and persistent, with notes of red fruit and spices; on the palate it is soft and rounded, with blueberry, blackberry and balanced tannins. Ideal with grilled or roasted red meats, game and aged cheeses. Serve at 16-18 °C.
